The Opportunity

FPC is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to assist with various functions of this ministry. The Youth Pastor is the main visionary and communicator for FPC Students, the 6-12th-grade ministry of Focal Point Church. Currently, we have around 70 students attending this ministry. They are responsible for shepherding the youth through pastoral care, discipleship, and leadership development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, pastoral ministries, theology or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in youth ministry or a related field

 

Required Qualifications

  • Spiritual gifting of leadership and teaching/preaching
  • Proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and above-reproach character
  • A mature walk with Christ with good fruit both in public and private
  • Ability to generate, contribute to, and maintain good team chemistry in an environment of constant change
  • Strong manager, team builder, and staff developer
  • Current member of FPC or willing to become a member

 

Candidate Criteria

  • Demonstrates a maturing faith in Jesus Christ through personal interactions, decisions, leadership influence, and communications.
  • Embraces the doctrinal statement of FPC without reservation and becomes a member of FPC.
  • Perceptive and has good common sense.
  • Reliable and works with deadlines weekly.
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills and is comfortable initiating contact with FPC staff, ministry leaders, and outside vendors.
  • Trustworthy and accurate.
  • Teachable spirit and willingness to learn new things.
  • Well spoken of by those who know and have worked alongside them.
  • Displays appropriate and respectful behavior towards minors and those of the opposite sex.
  • Team player with mutual respect for the gifting and differences of co-workers.

 

This Position is Not Suitable if:

  • You are not committed to at least a couple of years at FPC.
  • You need constant hands-on oversight.
  • You do not feel a call to lead middle schoolers and high schoolers

 

Job Goals

  1. Create a vibrant environment where youth feel accepted, respected, and safe to grow in their relationship with God by utilizing and growing Youth Growth Groups (small groups).
  2. Equip and empower youth to become active participants in the church and community through mentorship, discipleship, and leadership training.
  3. Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, fostering open communication and collaboration to support the spiritual growth and well-being of the youth.
